Congrats on a Great Season!

If I had been told 2 months ago that the Jazz would play in the Western Conference Finals I wouldn't have believed it. The Jazz deserve major props. Deron turned into the man, Carlos was an all-star and Memo was money(for most of the season).

Now the team has some decisions to make. Are we going to see this team stay intact and make a run again next year? Will AK turn into the old AK? Is Ronnie Brewer the 2 guard of the future? Will we ever actually get to see Ronnie Brewer play enough minutes so that he can become the 2 guard? Can Hoffa actually play like he did tonight over an 82 game season? If so we just found our backup, bruising, defensive minded center. Will Jerry Sloan learn when to call a timeout? Will he ever get a good substitution pattern.

It has been a fun season, and hopefully we can use this as a stepping stone. The Jazz are a very young team and I see a bright future ahead. Get Loud and Be Proud!

Steve Javie Sucks in a Major Way!

Foul Shooting my friends. When an opponent shoots 20 more ft's than you on your home floor something is usually wrong. However, when your opponent shoots 20 more ft's than you in the fourth quarter, in a crucial playoff game, it starts to get a little fishy. Mr. Steve Javie you officially screwed the Jazz over tonight. I realize that referees are human and are going to make mistakes, however, if every time Ginobili flops, or Parker falls to the ground a foul is called how can the Jazz expect to compete. I never see D-Will or Booze get the same non-existent foul calls that the "floppy spurs" get and it drives me crazy.

This game is just a perfect example of what has gone on this entire series. Game 1 there was a critical offensive foul called on AK that even the commentators admitted was not a foul on Ak but a block on Ginobili. In game 2 Harpring was clearly fouled by Horry on a lay-up and once again a no-call. That no call was then followed up by a clear foul on Millsap while shooting, that somehow was called a foul but not on the shot(to which Mark Jackson scoffed in disbelief). Basically, the timing of a bad foul can have a major impact on the outcome of the game and I really don't see the Spurs ever getting bad fouls called on them.

Tonight, Oberto tips in a ball that is clearly still in the cylinder, and there is no call. Ginobili pushes off on Giricek who is then called for a foul, and when he puts his hands on his head in disbelief is T'd up. Ginobili later creates space by elbowing Fisher(a no call), drives to the hole, and while running back down the floor runs into Fisher(who is then T'd up). These are momentum breakers, and I beg any Spurs fan to find me even two calls that didn't go their way tonight. My biggest problem with the NBA is the total lack of consistency in officiating. The stars get all the calls, and since Utah apparently doesn't have any stars we won't get any calls. To get the goods on Steve Javie, the man responsible for all the t's tonight go here!

Derek Fisher Stinks!

That is right folks. I know that several people were on the D-Fish bandwagon after a couple of good games in the Golden State series. Fisher won a lot of people over for having to go through a terrible ordeal with his young daughter who was diagnosed with Eye-cancer. But it is time to face the facts people, Fisher isn't any good. Fisher has now shot the Jazz out of two games, so far in the San Antonio series he is 2-17 from the floor, that is 11%. When your shooting guard is shooting around 10% you aren't likely to win many games.

The thing that kills me about Fisher is not his total ineptitude as a shooter. It is the fact that for being a "veteran" he sure plays like a rookie. He plays terrible defense, as demonstrated numerous times tonight by his leaving Brent Barry wide-open on threes, or by allowing old man Finley to go right around him for a dunk. The worst thing that Fisher continually does is that he forces up horrible shots. Here are two examples, Millsap grabs an O-board and throws it out, Fisher immediately jacks up a 3, at the time there was 22 seconds left on the shot clock. This happened when the game was still close in the second quarter and just contributed to the complete loss of momentum. The second example was in the third quarter when the Jazz had cut the lead to 11, Fisher first gives up a lay-up to Ginobili, he then runs the ball up the floor and takes a contested 3 which he misses badly, the Spurs get the long rebound race the ball up the floor (and seeing as how a terrible shot was just thrown up no one is back), Ginobili procedes to drain a 3 as time expires. Thus, our manageable 11 point margin went back to 16 in the course of 20 seconds all of which could be attributed to D-Fish.

It boggles the mind that time after time Fisher is "allowed" to continually make boneheaded mistakes and is never reprimanded by Sloan, whereas any other player on the team would get a first class reaming from Sloan if he made the same mistakes as Fisher. Let's face it folks, Fisher won't help us in this series, it is time to insert Ronnie Brewer. In Brewer we have length, athleticism, someone who knows their limitations, and someone who can actually play lock down d.

Go Jazz Go!!

So I am sitting here at work, which I probably shouldn't disclose, and all that I can think about is going to the game tonight. After Monday nights game I am feeling supremely confident. The Jazz didn't play all that well, and yet were able to grind out the win.

I look for Booze to have a huge game tonight. While he played well on Monday, he really didn't have the kind of scoring game that I thought he would. I think Booze will drop at least 25 tonight.

This season has been sweet redemption for Booze and D-Will. I hope that all of the Jazz fans out there really let Gordon Monson have it. This guy ripped on both Boozer, and D-Will. In fact even when D-Will demonstrated that at the very least he was the equivalent of Chris Paul Monson refused to acknowledge this. Basically, the Utah sports media market leaves a lot to be desired. I wish that we had some decent sports editors and talk show people here, but we don't so I should just stop complaining.

The bottom line is that I have a fever, a jazz fever and it won't be cured until we take home a championship. Let's hope that the Suns can take care of the Spurs, and then we should have a clear path to the finals. You know it is playoff season when even the wife is excited to go to games.

Haven't Posted in A While

This post will be a laundry list of things:

#1. I think that Jerry Sloan sucks. I hate his rotation. I hate the fact that he plays Derek Fisher on T-Mac. I hate the fact that whenever the Jazz are in a close game they don't get Boozer the ball. I hate the fact that with 2 of the most talented players of all-time he couldn't get it done, which to me says he can't get it done.

#2. I thought that the PBS documentaries that aired on Frontline and the American Experience about the Mormons was really good. I liked the fact that they talked to numerous sources, and covered a wide variety of topics. I think that PBS really has some great shows.

#3. Speaking of PBS, I watched the American Experience about 3 weeks ago on Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple. It was very interesting and they covered a host of material that I had never heard of.

#4. Giada on the Food Network cooks some really good, simple, Italian fare. I have recently gotten some great ideas from her show. She prepares light sauces that are pretty authentic. I think she is a big upgrade over Rachel Ray.

#5. Pretty nerdy of me to admit to not only watching and enjoying PBS, but to also enjoy watching Food Network.

#6. I have a fantastic wife. Who works way too hard. Thank you Utah politicians for not giving a crap about our education system.
